Magnesium is the 8th most abundant element in the earth's crust, also the 3rd most plentiful one dissolved in seawater. Because magnesium is found in seawater, it is available in almost limitless quantities.

Wrought magnesium alloy has found applications in many industry fields due to the favorable tensile strength, elastic modulus, and low density, such as in the automobile wrought magnesium energy, transportation, electronic structural components, lightweight packaging, aviation and navigation, space etc.

At present, magnesium alloy is mainly used in the foundry industry. It cannot perform its all excellent properties because the product has no deformation processing. The wrought magnesium plastic deformation can improve the microstructure, mechanical properties, intensity and plasticity, which can greatly expand domain application in favor for playing all the wrought magnesium alloy characteristics.

After World War II, with the gradual mature of aluminum smelting, processing and application technology costs continuing to reduce, largely suppresses processing cost, the demand and application of high performance for magnesium alloy products is limited. Due to the low melting point and lively chemical properties, the magnesium alloy casting process of melting liquid purification becomes a difficult problem. The magnesium densely six-party (HCP) leads to the crystalline structure of the forming difficulty, rolling yield is low. The impurity is prone to galvanic reaction, which make magnesium material itself  fast corroded. On the market, the type and quantity of wrought magnesium alloy products especially sheet and coil, is very few.
